Bakhtiari Rugs
Bakhtiari rugs were traditionally woven by the nomadic Bakhtiari people of southwestern Persia. Today, Bakhtiari rugs may come from other provinces of Iran, and are also copied around the world. Bakhtiari rugs are an especially unique group of Persian rugs because they display either tribal design elements or more traditional Persian elements, and occasionally both. While the design may feature a central medallion or a latticework look, the most well known is the garden design: repeating squares or compartments, each with a plant or floral motif inside. Bakhtiari area rugs are a bold and artistic expression.
