Making of a Hand-Knotted Rug

Hand-knotting a rug requires a great deal of time and plenty of experience to make sure it looks great. A special loom is needed for these rugs to hold everything taught and help create the knots. Creators make each know, one at a time, until a row is complete, and then the next row can begin. For experienced rug creators, it takes around an hour to make one inch of the rug. For each square inch, there can be between 500 and 1500 knots. Due to the creation process for hand-knotted rugs, no two are the same.
